Our Services
At SBPG, we are committed to providing therapy that is tailored to each client's unique needs, preferences, and personal goals. Our psychologists take a client-centred approach, which means we adapt therapeutic modalities, and prioritise your perspective, values, and experiences throughout the therapeutic process. We believe that therapy is most effective when it is collaborative and responsive to the individual, rather than applying a one-size-fits-all method.
We also recognise that therapy is not just about addressing symptoms—it's about understanding you as a whole person. This means we will take the time to work with you at your own pace, respecting the progress you make and adjusting our methods as needed. Our goal is to create a safe, empathetic environment where you feel empowered and understood, and where we can work together to help you achieve positive outcomes.
A Client-Centred Approach
DBT Group Therapy Program
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is an extension of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). DBT is evidence-based and aims to improve an individual's capacity to live in the present moment, develop healthy ways to cope with stress, regulate their emotions, and improve their social skills and relationships. The underlying objective of DBT is to bring together the two opposing concepts of acceptance and change.
DBT is suitable for individuals with a range of presenting problems including but not limited to, anxiety, depression, personality disorders, difficulty regulating emotions, interpersonal difficulties, addiction, and impulsive behaviour.
This program runs for 20 weeks and is open to adults (18+) and will focus on the four DBT skill areas of mindfulness, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness and distress tolerance.
Group members will gain skills to practice self-acceptance and constructive change and work together with the facilitators to resolve perceived contradictions between these.
Assessments and Reports
We conduct comprehensive cognitive, functional, and diagnostic assessments to support individuals with a wide range of needs. Our services include thorough assessments for ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), using gold standard assessments to provide accurate diagnoses and clear insights. Our assessments are designed to guide treatment, inform strategies, and support individuals in achieving their fullest potential.
In addition to psychological assessments, our psychologists are also qualified to conduct assessments for medico-legal purposes and provide comprehensive medico-legal reports.
Our Fees and Rebates
The Australian Psychological Society’s (APS) recommended rate for psychology sessions in 2024-2025 is $311.00 for a 50-minute therapy session. Our psychology fees range between $220 and $250 per 50-minute session.
Under the Better Access to Mental Health Care Initiative, clients are entitled to a Medicare rebate to cover part of their session charge for 10 sessions in a calendar year. A Mental Health Care Plan and referral letter from your GP is all that is needed if you would like to claim a Medicare rebate for your sessions. You may also be able to claim a private rebate from your private health fund.
Although SB Psychology Group is not a registered NDIS service provider, we can accept referrals from clients who are approved for NDIS funding who are self-managed or plan-managed.
